I changed my blog layout. DID YOU NOTICE?

I've been wanting to change it over for a while now, but was too lazy. Then Anna mentioned on her blog that she has the same layout as me. And I remembered that Ashley did too. And pretty much everyone had that layout. So I changed it. I really like polka dots so I thought it was fitting. And I've resurrected the Twitter feed (now on the LEFT hand side) because they fixed what was wrong with it since I last had it.

There is not going to be a theme this week. But I hope you enjoyed four straight weeks of THEMES. We're going to have a themed week in February (as is protocol for EVERY month). I just refuse to have it on the week of Valentine's day. So probably the last week will be themed. Anyways. I didn't have anything planned for today's song, and I still don't. So I'm going to type randomly until I think of something. Actually. I'm going to close my eyes, and press a random key. Then I'll pick a band that starts with that letter. Then I'll do it again and pick a SONG that starts with that letter. So here we go...

Y. Hm. That might be a hard one. Yellowcard and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are too obvious. So after extensive Google searching, I have decided upon YES, formed in 1968. I've never heard them before. But we're taking a chance together. It's a whole new world. So second letter....

T. Okay. Let's search those lyrics. There are about ten songs by YES that start with the letter T. So I'm going to pick one based on how the title sounds. Today's song is going to be: The More We Live / Let Go.

We should do this more often. That was fun.

When I first decided upon this week's theme, I had one song in mind. And that was today's song.

I'm not going to do a lot of writing today, because I have to get ready. My ride will be here in 45 minutes. I realize it will probably only take me half an hour to get ready, but still. I really like today's song. And since this week's theme is love songs, today's song is the most important of all. It's about loving yourself (but not in that way).

Get it? Because, of that Charlie McDonnell song? Okay...

Today's song is Flawz by Caitlin Crosby. I've loved this song since I first heard it, a long time ago. I don't remember when. But it's awesome.

"Caitlin Crosby wants you to Embrace Your Flawz. She created this video to highlight men and women, including Crosby, showing off their natural beauty. Many have contributed to the video and website campaign, including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jordin Sparks, Zachary Levi, Margaret Cho, American Idol's Jason Castro, Russell Simmons, Linda & Brooke Hogan, Brie Larson, Avatar's Joel David Moore, Olivia Munn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Charlyne Yi, Emily Osment of Hannah Montana, as well as hundreds of fans who want to show off their flaws!"

JD Salinger

"I prefer to think JD Salinger has just decided to become extra reclusive."
-John Hodgman

I've been trying since Thursday to write something that could fully encompass how I feel about his passing. I didn't know him personally. He wasn't my uncle. He was 91 years old so it's not like we weren't expecting it. But it still tore me up a little. Catcher in the Rye was the only novel I actually really studied - with two packages of post-it notes. I have read it almost as many times as I've read the Harry Potter series (17, if you're wondering). But I still couldn't tell you how much it meant to me. So instead, I'm going to leave my favorite Catcher quotes, and hope it's enough.

"You know that song, 'If a body catch a body comin' through the rye'?... I'd like-"
"It's 'If a body meet a body coming through the rye'!" old Phoebe said. "It's a poem. By Robert Burns."
"I know it's a poem by Robert Burns."
She was right, though. It is 'If a body meet a body coming through the rye." I didn't know it then, though.
"I thought it was "If a body catch a body,' " I said.
"Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all.  Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around - nobody big, I mean - except me.  And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff.  What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff - I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them.  That's all I do all day.  I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all.  I know it's crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be. I know it's crazy."

People never notice anything.

I don't even know what I was running for - I guess I just felt like it.

Game, my ass. Some game. If you get on the side where all the hot-shots are, then it's a game, all right - I'll admit that. But if you get on the other side, where there aren't any hot-shots, then what's a game about it? Nothing. No game.

People always think something's all true.

The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody'd move. . . . Nobody'd be different. The only thing that would be different would be you.

I kept walking and walking up Fifth Avenue, without any tie on or anything. Then all of a sudden, something very spooky started happening. Every time I came to the end of a block and stepped off the goddam curb, I had this feeling that I'd never get to the other side of the street. I thought I'd just go down, down, down, and nobody'd ever see me again. Boy, did it scare me... Every time I'd get to the end of a block I'd make believe I was talking to my brother Allie. I'd say to him, 'Allie, don't let me disappear. Allie, don't let me disappear. Allie, don't let me disappear. Please, Allie.' And then when I'd reach the end of the street without disappearing, I'd THANK HIM.

Certain things they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. I know that's impossible, but it's too bad anyway.

It was that kind of a crazy afternoon, terrifically cold, and no sun out or anything, and you felt like you were disappearing every time you crossed a road.

Don't ever tell anybody anything.  If you do, you start missing everybody.

22.6

So I came to this realization as I was searching the publication date for the next Spellman book. I just finished the third one and I was planning on killing Lisa Lutz (the author). Then I found out that the next book is being published on March 16th. Which is 45 days away. So the realization I came to: my 18th birthday is in 40 days. Holy crap.

The Spellmans Strike Again is going to be the greatest birthday present to myself. I am so stoked, you have no idea. I already have a list of books I'm going to get.** The third shelf (from the bottom) on my bookcase is looking really empty. Except for a recipe for salmon quiche (never tried it) and a shirt I need to bleach before Sunday (thanks for reminding me). Also reminding me of the fact I have actual laundry to do tomorrow. Bleach the shirt overnight and wash it all in the morning. Woot. Before this blog post gets TOO long, I'm stopping.

Today's song: Love is All Around by the Troggs. It was on the soundtrack to Four Weddings and a Funeral (I love it. I'm biased because I love Hugh Grant, though) and it was also in Love, Actually. Which was another Hugh Grant movie. Sensing a pattern? I really love him. Anyways yeah.

A Great and Terrible Beauty (also, Rebel Angels and the other books in this series) by Libba Bray.
Wake and Fade by Lisa McMann (at Anna's recommendation)
World War Z (It's about Zombies. This fact alone is enough of a reason. Also the guy that recommended it to me on Twitter has just passed the part in his relationship where he's told the girl he loves her and she has replied in a like manner, so I am buying this book for myself, in congratulations for them.)
Keeping the Moon (the only Sarah Dessen book I like that I do not own. There were only two I didn't like. But I never actually read them, so that could be the reason.)
Uglies/Pretties/Extras series by Scott Westerfield/feld? Meh
ALSO The Revenge of the Spellmans. It's the one I just finished reading. It would be weird if I owned 1-2 and 4.
Also - not a book, but I'm so getting All Caps' new album.

Sorry for the massive amounts of writing here.

22.5

So I don't have much to talk about.
Yesterday, I mailed some letters. Then I was going to go to the library but it was already four pm and I would have felt bad if I didn't make dinner - it was Joe's first day at the new job, so I figured he'd be too tired to cook - plus I would have been coming back at five when it's dark and I just wasn't in the mood. So I went home and made stir fry.

I totally wrote down today's song. And I just wrote a couple paragraphs of nonsense before I remembered. For your aesthetic pleasure, I have removed these paragraphs and instead leave you with a Backstreet Boys song: Drowning.

This is apparently the "Wet version". I'm not sure what that means, but there you have it. I think it either refers to dude's shirt, or to the rain. I'll go with the rain.

It was awesome to be able to talk to you (Alex) last night, if even for an hour. It's been so long. And it's just comforting to talk to you guys in a way that isn't Facebook or blog comments. I mean, the videos we're doing are awesome, but they're not super interactive. Still, don't stop, because I like seeing your faces. Anyways.

Apparently I don't know that many love songs because it's kind of hard to choose one every morning. It would be easy if I were going through Taylor Swift's discography, but that would drive you two crazy. Plus I don't have her discography anymore.

Anyways, today's song is by Amy Kuney, because apparently I can't go two weeks without an Amy Kuney song on the blahg. It's called Love is Trippy. I love it.

So I've taken to doing these posts in the morning, instead of... earlier in the morning, like at 2am. I hope that's cool. I'm waking up early enough that I can have a post every day by noon, Ottawa time. I mean, I could totally post at night. I just don't feel like it, for the time being. Anyways. I don't have a particular song planned for today.

I posted a porbs video, but it was a day late. So, sorry if you checked on Monday and it wasn't there.

Okay. I went through my iTunes and have found a suitable song. It's one of my favorite Motown songs. And come to think of it, we need a Motown week. F'sho. Anyways, it's by the Spinners. I don't think it's originally by the Spinners (maybe it was) but this version is by them. It's called Could it Be I'm Falling in Love, and it's amazing!

So today's song is going to be on the next All Caps album. It was written and recorded by Alan Lastufka and Tom Milsom, but it was also recorded by Hank Green. He did a slow, acoustic-type version. And All Caps did a dancey version, which is just amazing. There has actually been talk on Facebook about whether "dancey" is a word or not. I say yes.

Anyways, here is the song. If you click the video I have on my blog, it will transport you to the video as it appears on youtube, and the lyrics are in the sidebar. Or you can just look them up on Google. But whateva.

22.1

Yesterday, I finished off a really really good book. And last night, I had a really really good sleep. And very strange dreams, but I am not deterred. I have been needing a good night's sleep for about three weeks now. So basically, all year. And I finally got it. I am also not upset about the fact that I am eating crappy cold pizza for breakfast - again. That's how awesome my sleep was.

Anyways. I've been debating over what theme to do for this week (which is why this wasn't up last night) for a while. And about ten minutes ago, I still didn't have an answer. But Charlie McDonnell posted a song on his Youtube account. It's called A Song About Love, and I think that's going to be the theme - Love Songs. It also gives me an excuse not to do this in February for Valentine's Day.

But anyways, I'm just going to lead off with the Charlie McDonnell song. He was challenged by @dboling03 to "write/record a song using only voice and everyday household items as instruments. Not real ones."
So he did. And here it is. I was going to embed it, but for some reason, the youtube finder has failed.

As for my Abbotsford visit, they're not legally allowed to release anything UNTIL my birthday. And they're in Ottawa. So I'll probably get it the week after. I want to be in Abbotsford by the 22nd (Monday) but I'm guessing it's going to be a bit later. Alex, I realize this means we'll probably miss each other. Which is probably for the best as it would be unfair to Shosh. And it'll make seeing each other all at once in the summer, that much better.

It's seven am on a Sunday. Usually I wake up like, eleven. But I've been up since five. WOOT.

I'm going to first and second today, so that should be fun. I'll see if I make it all the way.
(Yeah, I totally didn't make it. Went to first, then choir. At which point, second had started, so I called for a ride)

Anyways. I wanted today's song to be from Music and Lyrics, but that's technically not a musical. So we're going with Moulin Rouge. Even though I had a Moulin Rouge song for duets week. It's Moulin Rouge. Enough said.
And the song is Elephant Love Song Medley. Because I love it. I was actually going to use Like a Virgin, but y'know. I'll just add it to the end, in case everyone wants to see it again. Because it's amazing.

I forgot to do this last night. I was distracted by my mom playing Alanis. Still, I remembered now.

Shoshana's super busy with everything going on with Katimavik right now, and I feel bad because I've been writing a LOT these last couple days. She'll have tons to catch up on. So I'm not writing that much today. Giving everyone a break :)

Today's musical: Chicago. And I actually don't like this version of the song that much. My friends did this in drama class and it was way better (which is kind of sad, but still). I mean, this one is more intense, but my friends were funnier. It's the Cell Block Tango.

I also find it very hard to believe they would be dressed like this in prison...

My Dress

As previously established, I cannot sew. But I've been redoing my dress because the zipper keeps breaking and I can't replace it every second time I wear it.

So, the majority of this sewing expedition consisted of me ripping seams, then sewing it up. Then when I finished the sewing, I remembered my hand sewing sucks. So I took them out and used Liqui-Stitch. (WOOT). Then I let it dry overnight, and poked holes in the fabric with scissors, put the string through and now I have a lace-up dress. I had to get my mum to do it up for me, because I can't bend my arm that way. And there are a couple places where I didn't put enough holes, so you can see my shirt through it. But as least it's not my skin, yeah?

Anyways... I don't have any "Before" pictures, but here is the "After":

I'll just have to pull tighter on that one place on the top. But I'll probably wear something over it anyways. Anyways. That's what I've been doing to stay productive - ruining a dress I'll never wear again to (kind of) save one I wasn't able to wear because of the crap zipper.

:)

21.4

I feel so out of it because this makes it a week since we've spoken on Skype. Gah. Also, I have decided to abandon you both for Institute on Wednesdays, if that's cool. We can choose a different day, or just stick to Sunday. Because Alex is tired of going to bed at two, I thought it was something to think about.

Anyways. Today, I went to the library with my mom (got a card, finally) and took out two Kathy Reichs books (the new one, and an old one I haven't read yet) and the FIRST Sherlock Holmes novel, and a couple others. Also, there's a book blow-out sale on Saturday, so I'm probably going to that. My bookshelf has been looking empty.

Then we went to various stores to buy food (AND HERBAL TEA. Except she forgot the sugar, so it's pointless) and then we went to lunch.

I also started a sewing project tonight. Shoshana, you will probably remember the day when the lights went out at school, on FORMAL DAY so I was wearing a dress. And the zipper broke when I was putting it back on after superfit. But we got to go home so I changed back into my gym strip and did that. Well, I haven't gotten the zipper fixed, so I decided to make it into like, a lace-up thing. So I'm taking the drawstring from my brown sack dress because it was time to let go. It was only seven sizes too big... And yeah, I'm basically going to do that. So I got rid of the zipper and sewed it back up until I realized I can't sew by hand. So I'm using Liqui-Stitch. I may have ruined two dresses. One on purpose and one accidentally. Still, I never would have attempted anything like this before, so it's progress.

(Now I won't yell at you when you suggest I start sewing, Shoshana. Sorry)

Anyways. Today's song needs no introduction. So I'll just leave you with it :)

21.3

I should have done this last night, but luckily I've woken up early enough - 7:30 am, thank you Katherine. She pretty much calls on ALL my mother's days off and asks her to come in. Which is good, except I always have to answer the phone. Usually before I go to bed, but I actually went to bed early last night.

ANYWAYS, last night. I went skating with the YSA and had a supermegafoxyawesomehot time. I fell twice, but fear not for I was wearing a belt and they saw nothing. When this happened, though, my basic instinct led me to crawl to the edge of the rink, dragging myself fiercely with my Spongebob Squarepants mittens, and pulling myself up on the ledge. But the second time, Zac/k/h offered to help me up. This was by the time I was basically already at the ledge, and Jeff was saying "that looks awkward" but after Zac/k/h tried to help me up and I slipped, I just used the ledge. And somehow in all the kerfuffle, I bruised my thumb. So I went for twenty minutes going "Does this look swollen to you?"

... That's what she said. And it was swollen. It has since gone down, but it's still bruised. Good times.

They're all lovely people, though. Jeff and his brother, Phil, drove me home. Or, more accurately, Phil drove Jeff and I to Jeff's truck, and Jeff drove me home. And while Jeff was going through his CDs, he asked the burning question "do you listen to rap?" I didn't want to be rude, because, hello, he was driving me home, and I had just met him that night, so I went with a "sure."

But it turns out he was kidding and wouldn't listen to rap if his life depended on it. He also said it was "too white," which I don't completely understand. But the reason he doesn't listen to rap... he listens to country. Oh baby. I almost wanted to introduce him to Alanna. Anyways, the first song was like, this slow, guitar thing, and he goes: Oh, too romantic! And changes the track number.

But despite his listening to country music, he's awesome. And it turns out this girl, Brittany/Britney lives a block away from my house (this is how Jeff knew how to find me. I wouldn't have been able to tell him the way) so I might have a ride to institute from now on. Except if I'd be driving solely with Brittany/Britney, I might pass. She doesn't seem like the most friendly person. When we were skating, she was just going around with her friend/possibly sister Amy, and avoiding the rest of us. Also, they probably hate me after I almost killed them when I was skating. They've got pretty good glares, anyways.

And I was supposed to go to Toni (?) and Tara's house after, because a bunch of people were going over, but I forgot to get her number from Jeff. So that didn't happen. Which sucks, because they are both super super nice. Tara stayed behind on Sunday with me for a half hour (as I waited for my mom to pick me up) and Toni was lovely while we were skating.

Anyways. I think this has been long enough, so I'll just get to the song. It's probably my favorite musical ever. High School Musical. (HAHAHAHAHAHA). Not really, but I do love it for some reason. I think I love it because I hate it... It makes sense to me. Anyways, the song is HumuhumunukweflmfaiefHUEWFLIAELFI. I can say it but I cannot spell it.

I'm still listening to yesterday's song. But today's is SO much better.

It's not a movie musical, it was performed by a bunch of university students in Michigan. But the guy who played the lead character, Darren Criss, is now on a television show, so that's legit enough for me. Plus it's freaking hilarious. I've already shown this to Shoshana, but Alex, you need to experience it for yourself.

I'm not kidding. It's all on Youtube and it's beautiful. It's called A Very Potter Musical (it used to be The Harry Potter Musical but due to copyright claims, they had to change that). I know it sounds strange, but it's freaking amazing. Find some time this week to watch it, you won't be disappointed.

Anyways, this particular song is called Granger Danger. If you click on the video, it will transport you to Youtube and the lyrics are in the sidebar. And I will be adding two videos of this song (the second being the studio recording) but you need to see them performing it first because it's hilarious. Obviously meaning I'll be using songs from musicals, because musicals are amazing.

And we're going to be starting off with a song from Alex's favorite musical, Phantom of the Opera. Despite the fact that I own it, it's been a long time since I've seen the movie. But I do remember that I like All I Ask of You. I mean, everyone does, though. So it's not a huge thing.

French week is over. It seemed like it was taking forever. On Wednesday, I thought I had finished. Then I realized I had lots of days left. Which was weird.

So today (Saturday, kind of) I watched Miss Congeniality 1 and 2, Mr. Brooks, and The Girl in the Park. Then I played some Scrabble with my mom (she tried to cheat a couple times and I won three out of four games). Joe sad idly by, looking thoroughly enthused. My mom is trying to get me to go with her to Scrabble on Thursday nights - my busiest as far as videos go. My excuse is that Supernatural is on. She argued that we could just tape it. But alas, we have to tape Fringe at the same time Supernatural is on, and we can't tape two at once, so I don't have to go.

But so you know I didn't sit at home and do nothing all day, I also went to mail some letters, did two loads of laundry (plus one for my parents), cleaned my room, and vacuumed my room.

I feel like I should be giving updates on my Resolutions so you all know that I actually follow through on them. I've never made a resolution to exercise more, because I only make realistic resolutions. Instead, I have resolved to be LESS lazy. Basically meaning I change my sheets every week, rather than every two weeks; I vacuum my room weekly, rather than monthly; I bring my dishes out every day; I do dishes more; I cook more; I go for walks if I feel gross, etc.

So far I'm doing pretty well on that. I am actually going to go to the library on Monday (as well as handing out more resumes. Joy). And when my mom has a day off, we're getting a letter ready for the lawyers in charge of my great grandfather's estate, so they know where to send mah money in March. I'm totally looking up prices to Disneyland right now. I'll let you know :P

I didn't have a lot to say anyways. Because it's after 6am and I have yet to sleep, and my higher brain functions are no longer functioning.

20.5

So sometime this week (or the next week, I never know) my mom will be faxing up a notary and sending them my stuff (for my inheritance). Mom wants me to use it for school, but... y'know, whatever. Disneyland is way cooler. I can deal with the student loans, but I haven't been to Disneyland in 11 years. Plus a week. The reason I know this is that we went in January, when I was five years old. I think the date on the home video was January 5th. But we obviously stayed more than a day, so yeah. Anyways.

I can't find my list. Oh, there it is. It's really far away and I'm not wearing my glasses. I just squinted really hard until it revealed unto me its secrets. Today's song is Tous les garcons et les filles by Francois Hardy. I'm just guessing from memory at the name, because Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is covering it. But I'm sure Youtube will know what I mean no matter what I type. I'm such a rambler. This is bad. Maybe next year, for my resolution, I'll work on rambling. I have enough for this year. And I plan to accomplish them all. So, the song. Ah. It's Francoise Hardy. My bad.

PS I have no idea what this song is about, other than boys and girls, but I'm pretty sure it's from the 60s, so it can't be too bad (sex-wise, I mean).

I once listened to the French music station at my grandma's and the song was by YELLE, and it was called: Je veux te voir. And I knew what that meant. And I was all: Yeah, this song is awesome. Until I looked up the lyrics. Seriously, don't do it.

20.4

So I'm talking to my friends on the phone right now. But I decided to write a blog post in the middle. They're talking about teeth-brushing preferences. Now we're talking about our future road trip.

Anyways. It's still French week. Today's song technically isn't French. It's more of a mock-French song. But it's amazing and suggests Frenchness, so I'm using it. Especially because I have vowed not to use Travailler.

Foux de Fa Fa by Flight of the Conchords. You know you all love it.

20.3

So it's Wednesday. Meaning Alex is making a video today! Whoop whoop! Also, The Squirrel Rebellion is moving up in Subscribers. On Sunday, we had 27. Now, we have 32. Progress? I think so. I know 32 isn't a huge amount, and most of them are probably friends of ours, but whatever. It's exciting nonetheless.

Okay, today's song was my French teacher's favorite. I mean, he played it every chance he got. He was basically the best French teacher everywhere. Except Mrs. MacDonald, but after she went on maternity leave in grade eight, she left us with this horrible woman, Ms David. And then when her maternity leave was over, she abandoned us for W.A. Fraser. It was awful. I mean, I've never had a bad French teacher or anything, but Mrs Rajabally just didn't understand that my projects sucked, even when I spent two whole days on them. She always said it looked like I spent five minutes on them. Mr Caron understood that I was the best in the class at vocab, and the hugest failure at projects. He was awesome.

Anyways, the song is called Helene and it's by Roch Voisine.

So I started watching Heroes and Lost. This is big stuff for me, because I've been trash talking these shows for years. I am only half way through the pilot of Lost, so I don't know how I feel about it. And Heroes is annoying because it keeps saying "To Be Continued" and I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. Argh. But I still don't even know if I like the show. Episode 7/8, by the way. I don't remember which one it is, but still. And Fringe is back on. And it's almost 6 am, so I should get to bed. But I had to post a blog. You know me. Especially because today, we have MY FAVORITE FRENCH SONG.

Sorry, it's not Travailler (Travailler is my actual favorite song, but we've already used it, and it will not be appearing this week. So it's technically my second favorite French song. But whatever).

AU BAL MASQUE by Compagnie Creole! I know everyone loves this song. It was the favorite part of my day when I was in school.

20.1

Holy crap, week 20. Amazing.
So Alex didn't go on Skype last night. Awesome. Shoshana and I just spoke on the phone instead. Tried to call her a couple times, but to no avail. I ain't bovvered. Today is also the start of another THEMED WEEK. I feel like I should have a sound effect for that. Anyways, It's time for... wait for it. You'll be pleased.

I was about to do the scroll thing they have you do in chain e-mails but thought better of it. My sleep-addled brain still knows some things. So anyways. It's FRENCH MUSIC WEEK. This makes me happy. I hope it makes everyone else happy too. Today's song is one Ashley told me about, and which I love just because her voice is lovely.

OH and guess what? I was eating a cinnamon bun when I got back home tonight and noticed my gums were a bit sore. Meaning ANOTHER one of my wisdom teeth is growing in. The one in the top right is half grown in, and it wasn't super painful. The one on the left top is growing in painlessly as well. But the bottom one on the left side is starting to grow in. It's not bad enough to necessitate drugs, but I do notice it every now and again. Ah. Anyways.

The song is Le Prince Charmant by Claire Denamur. I understood it well enough, Shoshana and Alex, being French geniuses will probably get it all right away.

So I'm super excited for today's song. Well, there are two songs. But by the same people. Not by the same people, but performed by the same people. Gahh. Okay. And also, tonight, I'm going to a CES Fireside. We're having a pot luck right before, so I'm baking right now. Then it's off to bed so I can wake up bright and early at... eleven, probably. Sweet. But it'll be over by six probably, so I'll be on Skype for sure sure.

The song I wrote down for today is Somos Novios, and the extra is Can't Help Falling in Love. Both of which are performed by Katharine McPhee and Andrea Bocelli. I love him. Anyways. Here you go.

I was going through my yearbook tonight, severely missing all the fun I had and the memories I made. It sucks being so far away from all those amazing people. But I'll liiiive. Ashley and I dealt with a little controversy about the Squirrel Rebellion stuff. Two of the girls weren't given challenges (and we're just starting the second week) but the reason they weren't given challenges is because two of the girls forgot to challenge anybody. So Ashley and I sorted something out. I've made a chart. But basically, everyone will have a challenge at least once every two weeks. We're making sure of it. And my chart is amazing.

Today's song is one I really love. It's hilarious. Shosh, if you've been keeping up with your Youtube subscriptions, then you've seen it. But I don't think you have, given you never log in anymore :P

It's called Duet With Myself and it's by Charlie McDonnell. It's loverly.

OH. And I only have a week left on my Photoshop trial, so leave suggestions of what I can photoshop us as, or send me pictures I can photoshop us into.

So I'm SUPER excited for today's song. It's not technically a duet. Well, technically it is. But you see what I mean, when it's not really... a proper duet, I suppose? I can't explain. You'll see what I mean when you watch it. It's beautiful, though. I am also very excited for tomorrow's song. AND NEXT WEEK'S THEME. I can't tell you the theme yet. It's a surprise. Just know that I think you'll both be pleased. No, you'll definitely be pleased. Especially when you hear the songs. I'm excited for the next three weeks. All themes, all awesome. Anyways. Today's song is Total Eclipse of the Heart, performed by Josh Groban and..... ELLEN DEGENERES. Even though she's not a singer, I think she did fairly well. She's a better singer than me, at least.

Alex insists I continue the countdown, and I've decided I'll update the eggwich things every couple days.

I try not to put the same artist twice in one week, and I'm technically not. Because Amy Kuney (on Tuesday's post) was just a PS type thing. But seriously, I don't care either way because this song is FLIPPIN amazing. Ari Hest wrote the music, sent it to Amy, who wrote the lyrics, and sent it back. And then they performed it together multiple times. It's called Cranberry Lake.

Also, I figure I'm only going to do the Countdown and the Eggwich count once a week, maybe on Mondays. Because it's annoying to write/type it every time.

DAY THREE! Also known as Wednesday. I think I have a vlog to do today... I'll go through the mental list and get back to you.

Today's song is by Rachael Yamagata (yet again, because I am obsessed with her as of late. So amazing!) and it's called DUET. The guy singing with her is Ray the Mountain... er Lamontagne. See, I know some French still. Anyways, it's basically the shizz.

OH DEAR GOODNESS AND A PANCAKE! I just found out (upon searching Youtube for it) that it was on the NEW MOON soundtrack! AHHHH. Also, I had the misfortune of watching that movie. But I'd rather not talk about it.

Anywho, here's the video (*snicker*).

ALSO, I am SO excited that we get to Skype tonight. AND I'm excited for Alex's video! Just know that I am giving up Institute for Skype, so y'all better be there.

PS don't you love the New Moon quotes just thrown in there? Typos, are as usual, both present and annoying.

So weird that in a few days we're going to be at the 20-week mark.

ALSO! Alex, I remembered that I was going to start a tally on my blog of the fried egg sandwiches I had all year. I am also starting a countdown until we see each other. Among other things I am adding to my blog this year.

Anyways! Day two of this week's theme - Duets.

Today's song is actually from a movie called Duets, so I thought it was fitting. It's Cruisin' (originally by Smokey Robinson) performed by Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis.

Also, if you're interested, Amy Kuney and Gerald Something-or-other did the same song pretty well. And we all know how much I love Amy Kuney. I checked this song yesterday and it was just Amy and Gerald, but now someone else is there! Ah!

Anyways, have a lovely Tuesday.

19.1

Shoshana and I are talking on Skype right now, but she's away for about an hour, writing on her blog. So I thought I would also take the time to post to mine. It won't take an hour, but whatever.

You know when you do something realllly stupid, and then you spend your time thinking about it for every second immediately after it happens, and you have that awkward, guilt-type feeling in the pit of your stomach?

Yeah, it sucks. And I don't know how to make it better, if that's even possible. I am an idiot. And I'm not dead, but I'm sort of getting there. Ack. I can't wait for Wednesday, when I can complain to you in the closest way we can get to IRL (minus webcams, but I don't have one) at the moment. So yeah, I'm basically feeling really crappy right now. Not even Air Supply is helping. Ashley helped a little on Sunday, and there's probably nothing you guys can do about it, but I still have an obligation to tell you. Us being best friends and all.

Anyways. I'm pretty sure it's time for a themed week. Let me check. IT IS. This week's theme is DUETS. So basically, we're going to have some of my favorite duets/plus-ets. Plus-ets meaning like... Lots of people singing. I only say this because today is kind of a duet, but not. You'll understand when you find out that it is EL TANGO DE ROXANNE from Moulin Rouge. I don't know the other guy's name, or the girl's name, but it's EWAN MCGREGOR. This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Just because of his voice. It's sort of in between a duet and a quartet. But Nini isn't really singing, I just count her because of the whole "don't worry, Shakespeare, you'll get your ending. Once the Duke gets his. End. In." before the song starts. That part isn't in the video, but anyways. And it'd sound weird if it were just two guys doing a duet. So it's a plus-et. Because of all the people in the scene. Shuddup.

And as stated by Shoshana Okano, "Ewan McGregor is an every gender thing."

Okay, this has been a really weird ramble, even for me. So here it is.

Happy Monday. Alex, by the time you read this, you'll probably be back at school :( Sad. I know you didn't want to go back, but you'll be back in like, a month, yeah?

18.7

I am always pleased to find a song for PANSED without having to look or think too hard. It happened again today, when Aread and I connected on Youtube. I don't know if any of you know him, but he was in my Seminary class in Surrey. And I miss seminary. OH. I don't know if I told you guys (It's irrelevant now because it was about two years ago, but my teacher was Emily Knudsen's mom!) Anyways, today's song is Anonymous Me by Aread Leano. (It doesn't have the cool accents it's supposed to, because I fail at that on the blog).

OH. And I've been watching 21 Jump Street lately. Johnny Depp in '87, haha. But on the show, he's a bowler, and every time he gets a strike, he goes "Another Slammerino!"

I just think it's awesome... Anyways. ALEX! Have fun with your family tomorrow. Sucks that you're leaving. You should call me when you land in Kelowna. We got a CORDLESS phone now, haha. We're so high-tech.

Anyways, so yeah, the song.

18.6

Okay. So, you both know of my deep and abiding love for Amy Kuney. And today, I am so so glad that I follow her on Twitter because she mentioned Rachael Yamagata, who I may have heard before (she did a couple songs for soundtracks) but never really listened to. SHE IS AMAZING. AHH.

Amy originally mentioned her song Elephants, but I got listening to her other songs and so far my favorite is Worn Me Down, so that's today's song. If you're interested, I can send you two of her albums. And a few more songs...

18.5

So I kind of feel like today's song should be one about New Year's. But it isn't going to be.
At first I was not looking forward to New Year's, because I had no party to go to, nothing to do. My mom didn't even buy me sparkling juice, but she got wine and champagne. By the way, the champagne top/plug/thing almost hit me on the back of the head when they popped it off. At ten thirty. So around eight or nine, I crawled out of my hole and flicked on the tv while the parental unit was playing crib. I know, so hardcore. And I watched Die Hard. Then we pulled out some rice crackers and havarti cheese because that's the most unhealthy thing my mom will buy. So we ate some of that. And continued watching Die Hard. I declined to play Yahtzee because it's never fun when my mom's drunk.

Anyways, at a few minutes to midnight, I went back to my room and started playing Air Supply because I had mentioned on Facebook that's how I would spend my New Year's. And I wasn't going to go back on a Facebook promise. Then I went on msn and Paul was on, so I said hey and we talked for a bit, but he had to go to bed in order to wake up at 6, which I think is crazy the day after New Year's. And now it's 3 am and I'm up, writing this blog post. Then I'm going to film my first Squirrel Rebellion video and post it to youtube. You guys don't have to watch my videos because you're busy and there will be too many this year. You only need to concern yourselves with OUR videos. And the lipsyncs, because I mean, you have to.

Shoshana, I know I said I was over it (and I am) but I just have to do it one more time: NICOLAS CAGE SEX FACE.

Alex, you're going back to res on Sunday, which is... probably a little bittersweet?

Anyways. Love you guys. Today's song is Love and other bruises by Air Supply, because I've been listening to it a lot tonight.

WOW. So cheesy. I love it.

PS Yeah, so I have 289 Air Supply songs on iTunes.

PPS Happy 010110. I think it's going to be a very good year.
