6.7

WOOOOT.

Last night was awesome. Paul picked me up at like, 5:30, and the doors opened at 6:30. We got there in twenty minutes so we stood around and talked to the guys from Their There. Then we went inside and waited around for an hour for the bands to start. The guys from Behind Sapphire (Matt and Grant) and the guys from Casino Junction (Joe and Steve Ward) got up on stage with a bunch of other people and they all sang Wake Up by The Arcade Fire. It's the song from the trailer of Where the Wild Things Are. Awesome.

Then Their There started their set and they were amazing! So much better than I anticipated. I'll tell you why. I just found out about them being there today, so I went to their myspace. It was an indie band from Pennsylvania and I thought it was weird they'd be playing such a small show out here but they had small shows in Calgary and stuff so I figured they were doing a small tour to get their name out. They had a girl lead singer, but her voice was kind of weak, and they weren't very good overall. So I didn't know why Paul was such a huge fan.

Then I found out (at the show) that they were from White Rock... so there's another band called Their There...
But the ones that I saw last night were flippin' amazing! Then it was Behind Sapphire, and Casino Junction usually does sets with them anyways, so they were onstage for a lot of that, helping them out with vocals and instruments and stuff.

Then it was Casino Junction, and it was really bittersweet because Joe is leaving for his mission soon and all that stuff. So they were having the CD release party. They told us at the end that they knew we were excited for the CD. They said we rocked, and we were awesome, but UPS wasn't awesome. They said they'd have the CDS by Wednesday, then they didn't come. So it was going to be Friday, and they didn't come. Then they said Saturday, noon, promise.

So the Wards went down to the States and waited all day for something that didn't come.

Anyways, they sorted it out saying they had pre-order forms and then the guys of Behind Sapphire would mail them out to us when they got here. Joe tried to cheer us up by saying we'd all get to hear the CD before he did.

That was depressing, but hey, he's going on a mission. Speaking of which, Matt and Grant did the best cover of "I hope they call me on a mission" EVER. It was so awesome. And Their There (The only non-LDS) band there must have been really confused why everyone in the audience knew this song. Then as the encore, everyone got back on stage and sang Wake Up again.

Anyways, it was a really awesome night, filled with awesome music. We almost got a group together to go to Denny's, but Grant shot the idea down. Apparently he hates Denny's and the fact that mormons hang out there. Oh well. ENOUGH TYPING, MARISSA.

I love Sundays.

It's the only day I enjoy waking up early. It's always sunny on Sunday. I get to nap on Sunday. I listen to a lot of everclean on Sunday....

TODAY'S SONG is Getting Into You by Relient K.

I love it so so so much. And Alex, I know you do too, being a great fan of Relient K. Shosh, I don't remember if you do or not, but really... how could you not?

Funny story, I actually used this song in my final project for philosophy. I did a book about all I'd learned

God vs no God (blah blah blah) and I used this song in there somewhere.

The teacher was such a cool dude, and I was thinking for a minute that he would know the song. But he didn't. He thought I'd written it, haha. I wish.

So amazing.

  1. Marissa! I'm so glad that your show was so good. It actually sounds like it was a blast - minus the whole CD thing. That didn't sound so good. But I'm glad that you got to get out and do something fun.
Also, love the song. But you already know that anyways. I have fallen behind on posting things on my blog. I'll do something today. Its Sunday so its pretty chill I guess.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Yep, totally dig Relient K, haha. I put their discography on my iPod before I left (mostly because I had the space, but I really do like them).

Glad you got to go out and partay! Katimavik has been awesome sauce so far, but I miss you because writing letters takes so much effort compared to talking. D; I wrote like 5 last night to various peeps, ahha.
