Coming Home

So no matter where I've lived, I still consider Abbotsford to be my "home". While Chilliwack is, I guess, my hometown, I've always felt more like Abbotsford is. It's probably just because of the friends I have, and all that home is where the heart is stuff. But for whatever reason, it's home. And I'm going to be home in five days (four if you count that it's technically Monday now).

I still need to make a Sunday video. Whatever. ANYWAYS. Along the theme of coming home, I have a Jason Mraz song.

I never used to listen to Jason Mraz because I was annoyed by him for some reason. And then, for no reason at all, I downloaded his new CD and started listening to it and it's amazing. This is one of my favorites:

see you soon

McFly and related things

So I'm guessing you know McFly.

and I'm guessing you know Tom Fletcher is one the lead vocalists/guitarists. But maybe not. Shoshana is bad with names and Alex is really too busy to look that up. But it's true. This is Tom with his sister, Carrie.

Carrie is quite the singer herself. She was recently in Alex Day's Lady Godiva video, which was too weird to even watch or put here. If you're super invested, you can find it on Youtube. It's disturbing though. Because Alex is a disturbing person.

Anyways. Carrie is amazing. So naturally I've gone through all her videos and this one is my favorite:

Mostly because in the others she is super close to her computer and she has a bad mic and it sounds bad but also because I love this song and because her voice is perfect and GAH.

I think that's enough videos for today. Love you.

Party Songs (Anna don't read this one)

So the party is tomorrow and the playlist is made and the cake is being ordered, and all systems are go.

I thought I'd just share one of the many songs that will be played tomorrow night.

Also in honor of Shoshana's fairly sleepless night last night, I give you One Direction. This is why Anna can't read this one. I'm not allowed to talk to her about One Direction. Whatever.

Happy Friday (that will also be on the playlist) and Safe Partying (Safety Dance is on the playlist)

BYE (BYE BYE) is on the playlist. Stopping. Later.

double posting here

I just have a lot of feelings. And by feelings, I mean songs. And this one in particular has been PLAGUING ME.

In a good way. Not a bubonic way.

Okay, so this song. I feel like if anyone else had sung it, they might started off quietly with a whisper and barely-there-piano, and it would have RUINED the whole song. But THIS GUY. This guy starts off strong with solid piano and his voice all loud and crap and then the beat comes in and it's perfect and I just uhhhghghghghghg.

Also, my management prof said something to me (by which I mean our class) today that pretty much summed up all the problems that exist in our society. He said: Kids see skin color difference. They just don't care.

And then what happens is they grow up and their parents don't teach them properly and they grow into prejudiced people. But if everyone came at it from the angle that kids do, we could all get together and eat a cake made of rainbows and smiley faces and we'd all eat it and be happy.

ANYWAYS. The song.

BYEEEE.

Keep it up and don't give up

So because I have a problem (A Coldplay problem) I was searching the "Til Kingdom Come" tag on Tumblr and it led me to THIS SONG. Which is a great song.

It was one of those "if you like THIS song, you will like THIS song" and I'm not sure it always works that way, but in this case it did. So the song is All Will Be Well by Gabe Dixon Band.

I just really enjoy it. Also, I'm currently creating a party playlist for Saturday so if you have any recommendations, LET ME KNOW.

Hamish

In case you're looking for baby names.

Okay so this might be every day for a liiiiiiiittle while, just as I spew out all these wonderful songs I've been keeping to myself for so long.

Today's is brought to you by MARCH MADNESS. Because I realized it is ever encroaching and it just reminds me of Seminary and makes me miss it so gosh darn much. It also makes me miss YOU guys and all the games and competitions and the early mornings and just being around people who all shared a love for maybe not the early mornings but definitely for the message and the blessings and for Sister Collingridge because she is fabulous. Anyways.

It's Never Gonna Leave This Bed by Maroon 5. Because I'm pretty sure that's how we all felt at 5:30 am on those special weekday mornings.

Also Adam Levine is so gorgeous. I hate his face, it makes me angry.

HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY. Maybe don't listen to this song until Monday. LOVE YOU.

Here begins a new segment

I'm going to call this segment "I like this song and so should you".

So I know I kind of dropped like, seventeen balls there. But I'm back. Ish.

When I was writing every day, I kind of had to force myself to find a song and that got me stressed out - albeit on a tiny scale - and I ended up posting songs that I felt mediocre about. I've just decided to post songs when I really want you guys to hear it. Whether it's one you've heard, or one you haven't, or one that makes me laugh or cry or is just great to sing along to. I want to share that with you.

I'm going to start with Til Kingdom Come by Coldplay because I've been listening to it a lot. Now, I know this will killlll Alex but I'm not actually a huge Coldplay fan. I mean, I like all their recent singles and I definitely don't HATE them at all, but I also just don't listen to them all that much. Then I found this song, which was actually because I downloaded a playlist about how Ron Swanson feels about bacon.

And this does accurately sum up his relationship with bacon, as well as Alex's relationship with a male violinist who is actually straight, and Shoshana's relationship with a very large man who has a great beard and plays ukulele and/or sings really well. Also my relationship with my future cats.

At any rate, here it is:

With that, I hope you have a great day and that all your lives are going well and such.

7.07

Okay. Saturday was fun. Tooth is still a little sensitive, but only when I press on it repeatedly to test my boundaries. And don't worry, I haven't become addicted to drugs!

Steph and I started listening to Christmas music yesterday. And again today. We have the JB album. It's beautiful. I also got Hilary Duff's album so starting Monday, that's happening. I won't subject you to it just yet, rather I will leave you with Kick Drum Heart by the Avett Brothers.

Also, NaNoWriMo is kicking my butt. I believe I already mentioned I am 2000 words behind. Hoping to rectify that today and tomorrow but there is only so much these fingers can write. I've also given myself permission to suck. As John Green and Maureen Johnson have promised, it is hugely liberating. But I thought I'd give you a little excerpt of SUCKAGE:

".....Cara and Rebecca strode towards me and plopped down to study before their next classes. They were deep in conversation about one of our fellow graduates, Greg. Apparently he had a bad cold and had been making all sorts of pleasing noises with his viscous fluid for the entire lunch period. Rebecca was describing the noises and Cara was laughing obnoxiously and the only thing I could think of saying was, “my car sounds like a whale.”

Cara looked at me, as if she was surprised to see me sitting there. Cassie looked amused. I continued, “just thought I'd throw that in there, because seriously—you know when Dory speaks whale in Finding Nemo? Those are the noises my car is making.”     "

So that's that. I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy my bad writing.

On Friday, I did absolutely nothing. But I forgot to mention my dentist appointment from Thursday. It was grand. I was sick and coughing and my nose was running and it wasn't painful until afterwards when the medication wore off, at which point I was fairly certain I'd never be able to eat again. So I went home early, took some Oxycodone and fell asleep for three hours, made tacos, kind of ate, then watched movies with Hailey, took more Oxycodone, and fell into the most beautiful sleep I've ever had.

On Friday the pain was mostly gone, and my tooth wasn't all that sensitive even though they'd drilled down to my nerve endings and there was blood in my mouth when I brushed my teeth and it was awesome. But I didn't let anything keep me from my first eggnog steamed milk of the season. Or my second. Which was also on the same day. They are that delicious.

THE SONG is Loneliness is Better When You're Not Alone by Hello Saferide.

xx

7.05

So we are here. Which is okay, because I thought I was farther behind. I'm not even going to apologize because Shosh is in Mexico and you know how I am in November, and you know how I am the rest of the time. So suck it. I'm doing NaNoWriMo, and I am about 2000 words behind. So that's cool. My cold is getting better, and my legs are getting hairier and my writing is getting worse and my mind is going crazier. It's okay, though. It will be over soon.

The song for today is going to be Lasso by the Band Perry. Because when we were driving down to Langley, Terra got me addicted to them. And I downloaded the album. Whatever.

Also, this new ScribeFire update makes uploading videos SO SLOW. So click here for the song.

So Hailey is refusing to be in the same room as me right now because I'm sick. She's talking to me from down the hall and such. But it's not a catchable cold. It's a sugar-and-lack-of-sleep-induced cold which I am not grateful for. It's the worst today which usually means the last(ish) and that I should be fine by tomorrow. I hope I'm fine by tomorrow.

I haven't had a frappuccino since Friday. That is rare for me. I've been drinking herbal tea all week sans sucre and that's not very fun even if it does help my throat. Anyways. I am having an eggnog steamed milk on Friday no matter what my throat tells me. Nothing will stop me from such deliciousness.

The song today is Echo by the Hush Sound.

TUESDAY. Was the first of November. I started NaNoWriMo. It's going well so far.

I also started No-Shave November but I've been doing that for the past two weeks so I am WELL prepared. Last year I said not shaving my legs would give me more time to write and vice-versa but then I never really did either. I'm hoping BOTH will be successful this year. I will only wear pants and will leave the house only when necessary.

The song for today is going to be the NaNoWriMo song, obvs.

7.02

On Monday, I went to work with a cold and Shoshana went to Mexico. How is that fair?

Still, the weekend was amazing and I went on two casual dates because my social life is better in Abbotsford than in Kelowna. In Kelowna, I have had a total of one date. Which was not so casual and not so fun. But my casual dates in Abbotsford are SUPER FUN and PLENTIFUL. It makes me miss it more.

At any rate, Monday was HALLOWEEN. That was great, yeah? We had a scary movie night. I say scary, but they weren't. We watched the remake of Children of the Corn. Yawn. And 1408. Literal yawn. I went to bed.

Right. The song. Under My Skin. Rachael Yamagata. Remember her? Good times.

HI KIDS

My Sunday was not-super-great but the bottom line is that I made it home safely and I got to be with Shosh. So I'm calling it a win.

Also, for the next few posts, I'm going to just use whichever song is currently playing on my iTunes playlist. Right now it's Minnesota, WI.

6.07

HELLO SATURDAY.

Today was Melissa's wedding. And that was fantastic in every way. Everyone looked beautiful and the speeches were magnificent and I was just blown away by how gorgeous Melissa is (again) and it was the best.

Then we had our casual Halloween date. Which was so fun. We made Halloweengerbread houses and went reverse trick-or-treating and danced and put on puppet shows and I'm not bragging or anything but my date was the best.

It was pretty much my favorite thing ever. And since it was the last Halloween thing I am doing - that's a lie. I'm dressing up on Halloween for the trick-or-treating kids and also for our scary movie night, but whatever - I thought an appropriate song would be MONSTER MASH. Obvs.

6.06

OMG FRIDAY WAS THE GREATEST. So I had a really weird night's sleep where I was plagued with dreams of people doing drugs and I was charged 6.85 for a drink and my sister was legit chugging soy sauce. So I didn't sleep well. Woke up early and went to work and then Terra drove me down to the dance where I surprised Shoshana and we danced then went on dates at Denny's and stayed out until about 5 am and it was the greatest night.

The song of the day is going to be Love is a Losing Game because I REALLY enjoy it and also I miss Amy.

xx

6.05

I had Thursday off. So my mom took me driving. Then Hailey and I went to Pandosy Books and also the Greyhound Station and we took care of business in both places. In the case of Pandosy Books, "business" means buying a Lou Bega CD. No regrets.

SPEAKING OF. We're going to have him today, as I'm sure the only song you've ever heard is Mambo No. 5. But I used to listen to this CD about twenty times a day, every day when I was maybe 10. Because I was classy. And didn't understand how racy it was. Okay, it's not even super racy. He says "butt" because he's classy.

xx

6.04

Dear Alex, I hope you caught up on PANSED. There wasn't much to catch up on. As it's now Saturday and I'm a lot behind.

To be honest, I don't remember what I did on Wednesday besides work. That's probably all it was. Anyways.

The song is If You're Not the One by Daniel Bedingfield. I love it.

Jenae and I discussed this song. It is like a sappy love song but at the same time it's like a break up song. It's confusing. I like it.

6.03

Tuesday. So I'm only a day behind. Cool it.

I hope you guys are well. And excited to see me on Friday, even though I won't make it to the dance. Sad face. Which is totally fine becauuuuuse my costume is a one-show deal. Well, per town. I have to wear a costume at work. However, the children trick-or-treating probably will not understand who Ms Frizzle is. And that is the great downfall of their generation: that they will grow up without the Magic School Bus; without Bill Nye; Boy Meets World; or any of the other shows that practically raised those of us with cable and absent parents. And that is why they are all going to be sluts and whores and that is why the world is falling apart. Because they didn't get a decent education.

///Rant of the day.

THE SONG is going to be by Andrew Belle today because I've been waiting for a while (not as long as Edward has been 17, though) to make you listen to it. He will calm the wildest beast and soothe even the largest aches. He is that good. I am in love with him.

I strongly recommend you download everything he has ever done. He is amazing and while I have only made my way through THIS album so far, I am 176% confident that his other songs will be super magical.

6.02

Bros. I've stopped feeling guilty.
Also. Originally, I wrote "quilty". But let me assure you NOW that I am ALWAYS feeling quilty. Mmmmmmmhhmm.
Anyways. No guilt because Shosh doesn't really have a computer and Alex is busy with the wedding.

The song for Monday is going to be Manic Monday, obviously. Because I think it probably sums up Alex's week. And Shoshana is always manic. So there you go.
