CHRISTMAS!

Roommate and I are going to decorate as SOON as we are settled into our new place. We want to start now because we're getting in that Christmas Spirit but there would be no point to set everything up and then re-do it all in two weeks' time. So a list of what we're getting- (You probably don't care, but I want to document this.)

A Christmas tree.
Obviously. We're not allowed a real tree (apparently it's a fire hazard) but we're getting an artificial one. We're not sure if we're doing traditional for our tree - like The Bay (and thus my grandmother) has this silver and blue theme that you can buy - or if we're doing a mish-mash of random tacky decorations. Either way, it's going to be totally awesome.

Candy Canes.
I don't care if the tree is traditional or not, these are going on it.

Gingerbread houses.
One to set up and sit there awesomely, one to eat while we make the other one.

Christmas Crackers.

I just want a tiny pack of cards and if I buy it at the Dollar Store, it's not the same.

Tinsel.
Probably going on the tree. Also probably going to cover every inch of our flat.

Fairy Lights.
One half of our front room is lamp-less so we figure we can keep these up all year-round, but roommate and I like fairy lights so they, much like the tinsel, will be everywhere.

Tree bulbs.
Again, could be mish-mash, maybe not.

Stockings.
There's a store just down the hall from our work that does personalized stockings with embroidered names. You can bet we're getting those.

Candy.
We have a candy bowl. Sometimes it's filled with chocolates, sometimes with nuts. Currently, it's filled with Tootsie Pops and Rolls that are leftover from Hailey's visit. We figure we can get some traditional Christmas candy to put in there. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Popcorn & String.
We're going to string popcorn while we watch TV. Not sure if it's going on the tree, or above a door, or what. But it's happening.

Christmas Chains.
When I was in primary school, we used to make Countdown Chains where you tape strips of paper in circles and then join them together so you have a chain made of paper. We would cut one chain link off per day as a countdown to Christmas. Iram doesn't want to do the countdown. She just wants paper chains. This is also something we can do while watching TV.

Scented Bar Things.
I got a candle diffuser from Saje (and some essential oil thing to help me sleep). The essential oil being diffused actually made me feel really ill so it did not help me sleep. But I will not let a 12.95 Candle Diffuser go to waste. Instead of getting a refund, we are going to use it this Christmas. My grandma always has candlie diffusers with those things that look like chocolate bars but are actually some scented wax thing and when you melt it in the candle diffuser, it smells awesome. We'll get something Christmasy. Or the Body Shop has those scented oils. We can do that.

We've also already started downloading Christmas movies. But not... illegally. Because that would be wrong.

:)

PS for some reason, Josh Groban gets me in the Christmas mood. That man could get me into the spirit for any holiday.

I really miss Abbotsford

I don't know why because I've been fine for like, a year. But all of a sudden last month, I really started missing my old town.

I miss not being able to see people whenever I want; I miss bumping into them all over town; I miss just hanging out.

Because as awesome as my friends are here, they can never replace the best friends I've ever had, who have known me for like a billion years and know every single thing about me. I miss people just looking at me and knowing what was wrong. Or what silly thought was going through my head. I miss the connection of not needing to say anything because the person you're with already knows what you're thinking and is laughing with you.

I just miss you guys.

Things I don't want to talk about

NaNoWriMo.

But of course I must talk about it. I just started because first I was lazy and then Hailey was here and then I was lazy again. I have 3728 words right now. Supposed to be at about 8335. By Sunday night, I have to be at 11669, or hopefully more. My downfall is that I am most creative after 3 am, as Shoshana knows from song writing at Girl's Camp, and as others know from my triumphant all-nighters. This is bad because I usually need to wake up for work around 8.

I would often pull all-nighters in school and then ace an assignment or project. Like a boss. But it was easier in high school.

Anyways, NaNoWriMo is going alright, I guess. I've got some stuff set up but there are about five different stories in my head and I keep forgetting which one I'm writing or what's happening so I'm very confused and I'm sure my characters are too.

My legs.

So I got about a week's head start on Movember, and I am basically two weeks in now. However, I still insist on wearing dresses to work. I really need to wash some of my nylons and cover them babies up because I am a hairy beast.

This month is turning me into a disaster. I almost forgot to shave my armpits today. But I guess it's better than not taking a shower at all, which almost happened. I feel like Sandra Bullock in Two Weeks Notice where Hugh Grant (NaNoWriMo in my case) is driving her so crazy that she forgets what she's doing half the time and gets ulcers from all the stress. GAHHH.

Bye.
xxxxxxxx <- showing you extra love now in case I forget later.

NaNoWriMo

Sooo I'm finally starting. I said I would start yesterday but Iram never got back to me about my first line.

However, she has now chosen. So I must run with this line and write 50,000 words by the end of November.

Will I do it? There's no way of knowing. All I know is that I've got to beat Ashley f'realz this time. Last year, I had no internet. So I couldn't officially win. But I have internet this time around and I'm ready to kick some Sinha-Wildering butt.

Ready, Set, Go.

Peace/Pieces

OKAY. In light of my new blog title, and also the new Taylor Swift album, and also the fact that I've been wondering this since I saw my first TV wedding...

Is it PEACE or PIECE?

When the dude is like, about to pronounce two people as man and wife, or man and man, or woman and woman, etc, he always says: Speak now or forever hold your _____.

Now, most people think it's peace because they're idiots who think of dirty things when you say "hold your piece."

It's also because hold your peace has been a way of saying "shut up" since them Biblical times.

But I wonder if it's actually piece. Because what if I have a piece to say? Then I don't say it at the wedding. I'm holding my piece then, and I will be forced to forever hold my piece and not say a bad thing about the sweet sweet union.

And hold your peace just doesn't make any sense. Because if I was at peace with the thing, why would I even have any thing to say? And if I didn't speak, how could I forever hold my peace? I would just be waiting for the day when they broke up, constantly feeling at ease, knowing this wasn't the right fit.

So what do you think? Is it peace or piece? Have you never even considered this? Am I the crazy one for being the only one that even thought it could be anything different? Explain your point in the comments.

TWINSIES?

A lot of people say I look like Drew Barrymore. My roommate refuses to see it. So I took a couple pictures of myself in a Drew Barrymore pose to see if we were twins. You be the judge:

So what do you think? Am I her twin? Her sister? Her hotter cousin?

NEW LAYOUT/NaNoWriMo time

Soo I decided now that PANSED is over, I need a new title. But with that new title, I also decided on a new Banner.
And my new banner didn't fit in my layout. So I also have a new layout.

The man, Benedict Cumberbatch, is the new Sherlock - BBC style, of course. I've been in love with the series for several weeks, since hubby and I watched the premiere. Obviously there's stuff about LOST and Harry Potter in the banner, too. In case you guys didn't know I was obsessed.

Hopefully I'll be updating this more regularly, probably a lot in November to inform you of my progress on both NaNoWriMo and Movember. Both of which complement each other. Because of Movember, I will spend less time shaving my legs in the shower, and more time writing. And the more time I spend writing, the less I will want to shave my legs. So there are four days until November. And my friend Hailey will be HERE, visiting for the first four days of November. So I figure, to even the odds, I will start NaNoWriMo today. And then cease for the duration of Hailey's visit, to begin again upon her departure. I will have lost no time and I see it as a fair trade-off.

Especially since Ashley and I are in a competition this year (Again) to see who can finish the fastest. Only she is now armed with Lo. So they have double a chance of beating me. But my main problem last year is the same as my main problem this year. What the heck do I write about?

So I have given my roommate/husband the

(pause as I realize the tomato on my sandwich has gone off, and spit out food. Awesome)

My roommate has the privilege of giving me my first line. Basically, it's like a creative writing assignment. Whatever position she puts me in, I must abide by. If she puts me on a submarine, I either have to get off the submarine, or stay on for the entire book. No dream sequences, no wishes on stars, etc.

I tried to get Lo and Ashley to do this with me, but they're too chicken.

So when my hubby texts me back with my first line, I will tell you what it is, and I will begin.

Alex's Drugged Texts

So there is an entire website dedicated to drunk text messages, and a lot of funny stories about what people do on medication. Like, after getting their wisdom teeth pulled, or say... before going into a major surgery.

My friend Alex is currently on Ativan - at least I think she is. She said she was on adavan. Either way, she is on something, and is currently texting me. And she, in her drugged mindset, has given me permission (actually, she gave me the idea) to post these potentially embarrassing texts online.

SO I'M DOING IT.

At first, this seemed like a normal text message conversation. Except for the parts where I asked her not to die in surgery tomorrow. Then I asked a simple question about pay-as-you-go (we were planning a phone call) and she got really confused.

At which point the text read - I havent done pay as you for minutes im confused....andon adavan. falling out of mmmy mindddd.

be happy uour the only person ive ever drugged txt wooooooweeeeeeeeee PARTY ON

Me - I feel so honored. Maybe you should rest, though. Love you. And don't forget to let me know you're okay.

ohkay lovey dovey i will get my mom to text you tp comfir.ed that you are not dead. i mean that i am not biasaed. i dont know what i mean

You're amazing. Sounds like a plan. Night, love.

i know what i want to say this time: i love you. (Coherent)

Love you more

im gointo laugh when i go back and read these tomorrow. i want my brain back

I hope you laugh when you read them. I did.

pleasEeeeeeE DO! I DONT CARWE IF I LOOK LIKE A FOOL

Good. I don't care either lol

just im not a crack hoe, tell them that they were pills make you fall asleepppp

Maybe you should sleep then.

At which point the conversation ended. At a quarter past two in the morning.

Alex, you better be okay. We love you.

As I Lay Me Down to Sleep.

HAYYY. So before I go to bed, I have to do this.

You guys haven't heard from me in about a month and a half. Maybe two months? The story with that is my internet kept getting blocked. And my roommate was gone so he couldn't fix it. Roommate came back to leave a note to tell me he was moving out. In less than a week, now. He left the note at the beginning of the month, but that was a few weeks ago. So now it's... this coming Tuesday.

The people upstairs got the internet switched over to Telus and gave me the new password and now everything is UP AND RUNNING and I am very pleased to have the internet once more.

So Iram is moving in for the month of September and possibly more. We're not sure yet whether she's staying in Kelowna until April (when her visa expires) or if she's leaving to see more of Canada at the end of September. But hopefully she stays because I'll miss her like crazy if she leaves and I'll probably cry a lot. Anyways...

My life has been hectic lately. I no longer work with Satan (long story) and I also no longer work with Frankie. Now I work with Iram and Sean. And hopefully someone else soon. Because we need more people in that store! So basically I'm working every day this week. And possibly next week. I've been watching lots of Criminal Minds.

OH, and if you guys have access, check out BBC's adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. So good. It might be online - Iram and I have illegally downloaded the episodes/movies. It's not a typical BBC thing but it's so amazing.

What else... Let's see...Hopefully I'll make a new video on Tuesday if that is still, in fact, my day to post videos. I don't really remember, it's been so long.

I bought a new color of nail polish. And I think I've officially run out of things to talk about in this blog post so I will let you get back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I love youuu.

It's been a few weeks.

Sooo I've been gone. I apologize. I am mostly without internet. Then the other day, I had the genius idea to pull my Dell out of hibernation and see if the internet worked on that piece of crap. It does. But the computer still sucks so I can't do a lot of anything.

Just thought I would update you on my life, as I've been living on my own for about a month now. (In fact, the one month anniversary was two days ago - WEIRD).

I thought I would start a new installment, called: Things you learn when you live on your own.

1. Peanut butter no longer counts as a spread, but as an entire meal.
2. Sometimes your roommate will own more beauty products than you. This is not gender specific.

That's pretty much all I have right now. But I'll keep you updated on what I learn.

Sooo the main event in my life right now is that I no longer work with Satan. Complicated story but I'm so much happier. To make matters AWESOMER,

Alex and Shoshana are coming out to see me in 13 DAYS! I am so freaking ecstatic. And I'm telling everyone because I can't wait. It's been about ten months since I saw either of them, and probably a good YEAR since we've all been together at once. Miss them like crazy, my gorgeous beffs.

ANYWAYS. I'm going to eat dinner (It's almost ten, but I just got hungry) and then shower and possibly watch some of the television I managed to download before the internet exploded (We all know Jen's to blame for that - IT Crowd joke?). Anyways, BAII.

Back on the line.

So I posted a blog a couple weeks ago saying my mom was here and then Alex was all "I'm missing something" And yeah, she was. I just figured that all the people that read my blog watch the squirrel rebellion videos so they already know what's going on, but Alex and Shoshana don't watch those videos. But Shoshana knew because we spoke on the phone. So Alex, sorry I excluded you... Here's the quick explanation.

After I moved out, my mom decided she wanted to move to Mexico. So she left. Then she came back two days later and spent some time with the grandparents. Then she was going to stay here for a while because she had nowhere to go because she broke up with Joe, and she couldn't stay with the grandparents because she got her job back.

Then Dallon said it wasn't okay that she was here, so she moved in with a friend, but now she's back toegether with Joe so they're living together again. More to fill you in on in private though. That's the basics.

So I've just been working a lot. Which seems to be a theme lately. And I've been educating Iram on proper tv shows. Like Supernatural and Boy Meets World (because she missed out on that). And we're going to bake cupcakes on Monday. That is all.

Eggwich count: somewhere around 20 or 30.
Shoshana count: GONE, BECAUSE SHE'S BACK. But I haven't seen her yet.
Alex count: I forget, but SO SOON.
YSA Conference (possibly when I see these best friends of mine): LIKE 28 DAYS.

Home Alone...

So landlord wasn't okay with my mom staying here for three weeks, so she only stayed one night. And now she's gone.

I spent last night at Iram's and we watched Funny Girl and Date Night. Then this morning we watched two episodes of How I Met Your Mother (I've finished it all, but she has two episodes to go).

Just thought I'd give you a quick update on my life... But now that I'm here, I can't really think of anything. So those are the bullet points, I guess. Wow, lamest blog post ever.

A post without numbers.

Sooo Hailey just started a blog. And then I was like "OH YEAH. I have one of those..."

So here I am. Blogging. Sorry about my time away. I've been busy.

My mum just got back from Mexico. Well, Sunshine Valley. She lasted two days in Mexico. Then she was with my grandparents for a few days. Now she's back in Kelowna. At my place. In my bed. So I'm blogging in our living room area because I'm not ready to sleep yet and the computer would keep my mom up.
The reason the title isn't numbered is because it's summer and that's when I was supposed to stop blogging, because Alex and Shoshana would be back (seven days for Shosh, holy crap. Wish we were in the same town. Especially because now she probably can't come over until my mom's gone which is mid-July, which is really sad because I need to see her!)

Anyways, um. I've almost finished all five seasons of How I Met Your Mother. But then I have the next two seasons of Chuck, two seasons of Extras, and looots of movies, and a couple seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And I had Skins, but then I realized I didn't like it, so after the first season, I stopped watching. Oh, and I have the UK Office.
I haven't been doing a lot other than working and hanging out with my new friends. Who I haven't really told you guys about. I've mentioned Iram, and possibly Chelsea and Robert, but maybe I should do quick bios for everyone?

Iram: 22; Currently on a work visa from the UK (born in Yorkshire, lived near London most of her life); is busy writing a pro-con list about our friendship; loves tea more than the average British person; makes fun of me a lot; super short; makes "that's what she said" jokes with me.

Chelsea: My old manager (for like a week - I've mentioned this f'sho); 22; works at Rip Curl now; has a cat named Kelowna, because her and her boyfriend Tim bought it when they moved here from Ontario; lots of tattoos; sailor mouth; completely awesome; dating a total douchebag who doesn't deserve her; into Tarot and astrology.

Robert: Manager at Rip Curl; old Randy River manager, which is how we know him; actual ginger, but dyes it blonde; Just turned 19; middle name is Thomas, but Chelsea says it's Peter; looks like an American Apparel model when he's hungover; listens to Miley Cyrus but is totally straight (as far as we know).

Amy: Used to work at Randy River, now works at Rip Curl (sensing a pattern?); just graduated high school and looked smokin'; likes Bananas in Pyjamas; she's one of those super short and awesome people; also into Tarot and astrology; Chelsea's twin, basically.

Proof of Robert's likeness to an American Apparel model:

I LOVE YOU! I might not be so great at blogging these next few weeks, since my mom is here and all.

40.7

Doing this before work, because I know I'll forget after. Had a good sleep last night, but I'm still exhausted. I was going to be working with Frankie today (kinda awesome) but instead I'm working with Moni (not as awesome) so it might not be a super happy fun day. On the bright side, I get to work with Moni again on Monday. But THEN. Then I have the day off. And I move in to my new place. Which, as Anna said, makes me like, old and stuff. BTW Anna, welcome back to the world of commenting :)

But anyways. Then on Wednesday, Moni has the day off. And because she's working Sunday now, I can get her to leave early on Thursday and Friday so Iram and I have a couple more hours worth of peace.

Andbutso, I really should start getting ready for work because I need to leave in fifteen to thirty minutes and I haven't done anything yet. I'm awesome, I know.

OKAY. Again, no music. I'm thinking I'll have to change the name of my blog if I keep up this no song thing.

Anyways, love you.

40.6

Okaaay. Update. Even more tired in the last minute. I can function properly on one night of poor sleep. Even two. But when I get three or four nights of crap sleeps, I'm so freaking tired. And I don't want to go to work today. Especially because I have to go to work on Sunday. Just so I can have Tuesday off. Because I'm moving on Tuesday. Making this the third Sunday in a row where I'll have worked. We're supposed to have every second Sunday off. Moni has that. I worked three Sundays ago. Everyone worked last Sunday because it was packing day. And I'm working this Sunday.

You may think that because I've had Monday to Thursday off, I'd have slept well. But no. Not really. The light comes through the curtains too dang early and then my body goes "IT'S LIGHT OUTSIDE. TIME TO WAKE UP?" And I'm like "NO. It isn't." But then my brain is all "That's just too dang bad, because you're waking up anyways." *bombards with thoughts and light*

So yeah. I should get up. And get ready. I move out on Tuesday. I will have no time to pack. Until Tuesday.

Anyways, I'm going to stop so you don't have to read any more of my complaining. BAII.

And I don't mean to complain because I'm just happy to have a job. But maybe not this job exactly.

Right. Bye. I love you.

40.5

It's Saturday. Not Friday. But I have extra time to post this. I didn't yesterday. We haven't been at work all week. Since Sunday. It's been closed for renovations. But yesterday was the day we took all the boxes back from the storage room. Because the name changed, we're not selling all the same merchandise. So I spent the day transferring stuff out to other stores. Moni and Frankie went home at 6:30. An 8-hour day. Good times. I stayed until 9. Which ended up being more of a 13 hour day. And today I was going to wake up at 8, but it's 7 and I'm awake. I'm exhausted.

Thanks to my aunt and uncle taking my bed, and my parents and everyone always being awake at 6. Not the greatest sleep of my life. The only thing that will get me through is thinking about my sleep tonight. Parents and AUncle are going to Hedley. For a nickel mine tour. If you think that sounds boring, wait until you hear the tour is 4 and a half hours long. My mom still doesn't believe me when I say she'll be bored.

ALSO, at work. UPS was supposed to deliver about 80 boxes today. Never happened. UPS doesn't work on the weekends. We open on Sunday. So that's awesome.

Anyways, I'm going to get to today's actual blog, so um. Yeah. No song, again. Take that.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

40.4

Actually slightly on time for once. Iram came over today and helped me pack. We only had five boxes at the time. But of course, when I was on my way back from dropping her at the bus stop, my mom drove by with a bunch of boxes in the car. So I have a bunch of boxes now. And I would feel fine about leaving my room in disarray tonight if my aunt and uncle weren't possibly coming over and sleeping in my room tomorrow.

So because it didn't take that long, we watched Dexter. Obviously. I'm so excited for her to watch the fourth season whenever she gets the time. So intense. Can't believe she's this far behind. Also, because my new roommate is apparently awesome with computers, I might get him to reset my IP address to England so I can finish watching Garth Merenghi and other amazing Channel 4 programs. Also, Doctor Who. And I can rewatch all the series of the IT Crowd. Anyways, yeah. Might not even happen because he hates Macs and might not be that awesome with computers. But apparently he's got a sweet DVD collection which I can peruse at my will once I've moved in.

Craaap, I need to pack. I was hoping to clean everything up by 11, but that failed as it's 8 to. Maybe 11:30 because I need to wake up early for WORK TOMORROW. Argggh. And I need to make my lunch(es) as I'll be there for twelve hours, maybe.

Instead of packing, I watched How I Met Your Mother. A bunch of the episodes. I love NPH, but I reaaallly need to pack. Okay, bye. No song because I don't have time (even for that).

LOVE YOU LOTS, THOUGH.

40.3

Before I get into the super serious stuff, here is the semi serious: I am now at 16 eggwiches. I think. Probably more but I stopped counting some time after ten.

Okay. So the really serious. Yesterday, Iram came over (beach, etc) but while she was on her way over, my mom and I dropped my bike off, I picked out some fenders for it, and we got home. Then we were having a normal discussion. There was a lull. Then she said "I think it's time you found a place to live."

Then she proceeded to give me the moving out speech. It wasn't a huge surprise and I actually did see it coming, so I wasn't shocked or anything. And there are no hard feelings, because I was kind of getting fed up with living at home. Not that I don't love my mum, and not that my mum doesn't love me; it was just time. So she was prepared and handed me the newspaper, telling me there were quite a few options. And when Iram was over, we craigslisted some places, and I have a couple appointments this week.

It hasn't sunk in that I'm going to be moving out, but nothing really ever does sink in with me. Like me becoming assistant manager, or moving five hours away from my friends in Abbotsford, or moving out when I was 16, etc. I just kind of take everything in stride because otherwise I would go completely mental, I think. It's the only way I can live without being completely overwhelmed by all the change and insanity of it all.

Anyways, now I've told you, that's pretty much all the big news in my life. So you're updated. Awesome.

The song for today is going to be... Shadow Song by the Mountain Goats. No it's not, because I can't find it on Youtube. Sax Rohmer #1 it is then.

Enjoy your Wednesdays. I am going to have lunch/dinner now.

xx

40.2

So I'm late. Again. But I told you I would be. Actually, I think I promised to be early. But then I forgot and Iram was over. We watched AVPM and I got burnt when we went to the beach. The burn on my face is now a tan. But the burn everywhere else might take another day. And Shoshana, in case you're wondering, no one lost their flip flops, and this time I am right around the corner from the beach so we didn't have to walk up 6 twisty blocks of steep hill.

My bike was fixed yesterday and we were supposed to pick it up today but my mom decided to wake up late. Or rather, I woke her up. Because otherwise she would not have woken up. So hopefully I get my bike tomorrow morning because I'm pretty sure I work. She'll have to drive me. Her fault.

Also, another topic to discuss. But I will tell you in today's blog, because this is yesterday's. A couple of you already know but I figure I should get it out in the open because it's big. Anyways, the song right now is going to be.... Last Kiss by Pearl Jam. Because Lo mentioned them on twitter and I was all "my favorite songs by them are.." and Last Kiss is one of them. It's amazing.

Leaving you for ten minutes.
xx
