HAPPY HUMPDAY.

It's fun to call it that.

I am not up to much lately. My dad failed to pick me up yesterday, so not a lot to report. How about you?

Today's song is by Relient K, because I know how much you love them (I love them, too). And the song is... wait for it...

Must Have Done Something Right. WOOT. I can't get the actual music video on here because the embedding is disabled. Stupid copyrights.

TUESDAY!

I have nothing to do today... heh. Later, though, my dad is picking me up. We're going to eat some Indian food (which I have greatly missed. My mom gave me a samosa today and I just about died from loving it so much) and I'll probably end up hanging out with Adrienne and helping her do all the cleaning, because the boys never do. Honestly, it's disgusting.
Oh well. Today's song is by Regina Spektor. I absolutely love her. She's such a talented singer. The song is called Fidelity. It's one of my favorites. (to jump topics completely, haha)

Enjoy your Tuesday, whatever you're doing.

5.1

Happy Monday!

Is your schedule the same every Monday, so you can sleep in until noon?
That would be awesome.

To kick your week off is a song you may or may not like, but I enjoy it. It's by the same guy who sings Sweet Caroline (one of my favorite songs). So today's song is Another Day That Time Forgot, by Neil Diamond, ft. Natalie Maines (from the Dixie Chicks). And I like them too, so maybe that's why I like this song so much.

I forgot to tell you when I got your letter on Friday. I'm going to send yours tomorrow. I've been to lazy all weekend to walk five minutes down the road to send it, haha.
Love you.

YAY! SUNDAY!
This means I've been doing PANSED for FOUR WEEKS AND TWO DAYS. Thirty days, and thirty songs. One month of PANSED for you, dear.

Today's song is by Amy Kuney. And I realize that I've already posted one of her songs this week, but she's reaallly great. Plus I posted three Julia videos, so I think it's okay. Also, you didn't tell me what you thought about Thank You For Last Night, because you were focused on the Julia and the kidnappings. It happens.

Every two weeks, she posts a new song from her album "Bird's Eye View" and gives us a free download of it. Each download only lasts two weeks and when she posts a new one, you can no longer download the previous one. But, with our handy software, we can still download them. BAHAHAHA. So, pretty much, I have every song ever released by her on youtube, and a lot of them that are only found on iTunes.

ANYWAYS...

Today's song is: Angel Tangled in the Telephone Lines, by Amy Kuney (obviously).

Enjoy your Sunday.

Saturday!
... is a special day, it's the day we get ready for Sunday.

I miss those times.

Anyways, I am really excited for this song! It was written by Danny Tieger, but in the version I'm posting, Julia Nunes is singing it with him (because that's the way i first heard it). Plus, I think it sounds better as a duet like this. Can you tell that I really enjoy my Nunes?

It is such a cute song, and it's just kind of fun. So, the song is Sunburnt Hand. Again, by Danny Tieger.

Have a scrump-diddlee-icious Saturday. And don't forget to get ready for Sunday!

FRIDAY! GLORIOUS DAY!

I actually found out about this one through facebook.
I was bored and looking through the feed page and Carlos posted a link on (I think) Melissa's page to one of her videos, so I watched it. I love her. Her voice just has a  quality that makes it sound sort of... something. But it's so gorgeous. I can't really describe it. Either way, her voice is different and really, really beautiful.
Without further ado or what-have-you, today's song is Someone You Used to Know by Zee Avi. So far it's my favorite by her.

Enjoy the weekend. And happy autumn, even though I'm a bit late saying it.

4.4

Happy Thursday.

This reminds me that I haven't done a video yet. But no one else seems to be posting. It's strange.

Anyways, today's song is by an artist I've been following for a loooong time. Longer than any of the others, probably. Just not consistently. I stopped for a few months, and went back to her a couple weeks ago. The song is called Jenny and it's by Terra Naomi.

A girl (Jenny, I'm guessing) wrote to Terra saying she had no reason to live and listed all the reasons her life sucked and told her she was going to kill herself. So Terra Naomi wrote this song for her (and other people struggling with depression) to let them know that life was worth living. Her voice can be annoying to some people, but it's a really good song.

Jenny I think you've lost your mind
Jenny the friends you thought you had
Have left you all behind
Jenny there's truth in unkind words sometimes
Take what you need and leave the rest for someone else to find and

Now you wanna show it to the world
You wanna show them just what happens
When you hurt a girl
And

Jenny I think you've lost your mind
Jenny I think you've lost your mind
Take that trophy from your hands
And just put it down, you can
We all have to lose sometimes

It'll be better in a year
You'll forget everything you thought was so important here
Jenny, I know even the darkest clouds will disappear
Everyone goes through this it's part
Of life

Now you wanna show it to the world
You wanna show them just what happens
When you hurt a girl
And

Jenny I think you've lost your mind
Jenny I think you've lost your mind
Take that trophy from your hands
And just put it down, you can
We all have to lose sometimes
We all have to lose sometimes
We all have to lose sometimes

WARNING: CONTAINS LOTS OF VIDEOS

It's Wednesday. Again.

Meaning I need to make a video. For tomorrow. I need lots of time for the editing.

Part one of the kidnapping is up on youtube. And here.

And here's part two, even though you saw it already.

Now that you've seen the first one (and the second again), I'll talk about PANSED.

Yesterday I wrote about David Choi. This is the favorite youtuber he performed with. They did a cover of an Esmee Denters song (which I don't like. Her version sucks) and their version is SO AWESOME. I'll be posting it in the future I'm sure. Maybe I'll have a duet themed week.

SO YES. For the third day of the youtube themed week of PANSED, here is Amy Kuney with her original song, Thank You For Last Night.

I like this version better than the produced version. Maybe just because I heard this one first. Either way, I think she's amazingly talented and I absolutely love her. But I just like this one better.

Also, you said Julia Nunes was funny. But you wouldn't really get it from that video. You'd get it from this one:

(When it gets to the concert footage, if you don't want to watch it, just skip ahead to 4:45)

4.2

Okay.
Back with internet, back into the flow of things. I hope you're looking forward to regular posts and not having to search too long for a youtube video.

Today's song is by a recent discovery. The only reason I discovered him was because he sang a duet with one of my FAVORITE youtubers, and did an awesome job so I looked up more by him. I don't like too much of his stuff, but I have been addicted to this song for months. It's called Won't Even Start and it's by David Choi.

I LOVE IT!
anyways. I'm off to write a blog about all I've been up to the past couple weeks.
:)
xx Marissa

4.1

I have my internet back, and even though I texted you to let you know the song of the week, I have an obligation to my other two followers.

Today's song is Into the Sunshine by Julia Nunes, which marks the first day of a youtube themed week. Meaning every song I post this week will be by an artist I discovered via youtube recently and not so recently at all.

I've been following Julia (not IRL, just via interentz) for a long time now, and I absolutely love her. I bought both her albums on iTunes. And when I have more money on iTunes, I look forward to buying her next album when it comes out. She's just such a hilarious person and it looks like she'd be a lot of fun to meet. One day, Julia. One day.

3.6 and 3.7

Fail.

It's Saturday.
I didn't post anything because my internet failed.
Luckily, I posted yesterday's before it died. But then I wiped my computer to make it go faster.
It's much faster now. I just have no internet. I'm currently at the library and seeing as I'm not going to the library tomorrow, I'm posting Sunday's song as well.

So today's song is Chasing Pavement by Adele

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz7vGW2_5c0

And tomorrow's song is Viva La Vida by Coldplay, making the fifth British artist this week.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQnpRTzu8gA

Have a good weekend. I'm hoping by Monday I'll have the internet all figured out. If not, I'll just have to text you with the song of the week and you can look it up yourself, haha.

I already started checking for your letter, because I thought you mailed it already lol.

I'll probably check every day now anyways. :)

FRIDAY.

Doesn't it make you happy to see Friday on your calendar?

Today's song is by a band you looove, Alex: The Stills. The song is Being Here, and I enjoy it. Also, the video is awesome. Two thumbs up for headless guys.

Have fun partying this weekend. I'm back on the good internet, yay!

I miss ya, darling.

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

3.4

Thursday again.

I'll probably have a video up, sometime.

Sooo the song of the day is Foundations, by Kate Nash. I really enjoy this song. I really enjoy Kate Nash. And the music video is pretty cool. Anyways... yeah. And for the second time, I've got you the clean version. :)

Embedding not working because I had to post directly. Rawr.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC591PSG5qw

You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl.
Oh wait... wrong blog? DANG IT! This blows my cover.
PS I'm posting this early because I don't know how long my internet will be around for. Wireless at my dad's is stupid.

HUMP-DAY!

although there's not much for me to complain about. I have no job, no school. No humps to cross.

I THINK I SAW YOU ON TV! Behind the guy from Bloc that talked for too long. They all talked for too long, actually. Oh well.

And before you start on me about the song of the day, just shut up. Because I like it. I liked it when it first came out with the CD, and then when it was released as the single, I thought the video was cute. Unlikely, but still, it was cute. Also, she is very talented. And maybe just because I was over-emotional when it all went down (for various reasons), I was watching her music videos, and one of them actually made me cry. A MUSIC VIDEO!

That's never happened. So, yes, either me being over-emotional, or the video director being talented.

Anyways, the song of the day is You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift. Like I said, shut up. Also, the huge awesome glasses she's wearing... Those are hers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaYkwItyMFk

you'll have to do that because my blogger thing isn't working and I had to post directly from blogspot (not cool) so I can't embed the video. I'll do it when I'm home, though, with better internet.

Love youuu.

3.2

Tuesday!

I had this all written out, and then somehow it was deleted, so I have to start all over again, which sucks. Now I have no idea what I was going to say. So I'll just say that the song of the day is Two Doors Down by the Mystery Jets. I was going to post one of their songs earlier, and it had Laura Marling in it (she did Ghosts, remember?) and I thought I'd get two birds with one stone. Or, rather, two artists with one video.

After giving it a bit of thought, I decided that the awesomeness of Laura Marling and the awesomeness of the Mystery Jets must be experienced separately before they are experienced together. I also think that the Mystery Jets always have such creative music videos. I love them. This one is a bit 80's which, to me, is awesome.

Here it is :)

Have fun on CPAC tonight. I'm so proud of you! And I will try to watch, but I don't know if I can seeing as we're going grocery shopping tomorrow, and even when we are home, I doubt anyone else will want to watch CPAC in order to (maybe) catch a glimpse of you.

You'll have to teach me some of your camera-eluding techniques. I plan on being very famous some day and will need them to keep the paparazzi at bay.

3.1

MONDAY!

I'm not feeling the Monday-ness, because I don't have school or work or anything, so I can no longer empathize. However, I sympathize and I hope that will be enough for you. Today's song is by a band I've liked for a while, and forgot about for a while, and recently sort of rediscovered; The Sounds. And this is their (old) new single, No one Sleeps When I'm Awake. It's recent, hence new, but they just released another single, hence the old.

Anyways, enjoy it.

I miss you a lot, and I love you, and I'm really proud of you :)
Can't wait for your letter.

2.7

The week is over! FINALLY.
Today also marks the end of the second week of PANSED. It's a milestone. Every day. A song. For you.

Today's song is a good one, from the EFY cd of the year we both went to, with Shosh. So I thought it was fitting. Also, it's just an awesome song either way. It's You Raise Me Up, by Josh Groban. Shosh and I used to listen to it on the way to choir. Good times. Also, good story with it (involving Alanna, our beloved). I'll blog all about it later. There will be a long post about my week here, so sometime next week.

Happy Sunday.
I love you.
PS it sucks you have to work today. Next week you'll definitely get to go, though, which is good :)

2.6

Saturday.

Such a lovely day. I love weekends, even if I've had a summer full of them. They're great.

Today's song is one of my favorites. Ever heard of The Eagles? Well, this isn't a song by them. But Timothy B Schmidt, a member of the Eagles, was also in a band called Poco. In my opinion, Poco is, like, ten times better. At least.

And the song is Keep on Trying. It doesn't get more epic than this song.

Kidnapping.

I was kidnapped. See the footage, here.

that is all.

Thursday, September 10, 2009

2.5

Friday!!! WOOOOOOOT.

I'm going to party it up this weekend.

Except not really because I haven't got a life.

The song of the day is Ignorance, by Paramore. Their new album comes out this month, which I'm looking forward to.

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

2.4

THURSDAY!

I should have a video up. In which I sing the whole time. Punishments are rad.

SOOO I really really like this song. In fact, it's the song I'm basing my NaNoWriMo story on.

(Basically, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, which is November. So how it works, is you have to start writing on November 1st, and stop writing promptly at the end of November 30th. And hopefully by then, you've completed your novel, meaning you have 50, 000 words that added up all together, make a half decent story.)

So I'm doing NaNoWriMo. And this song gave me the idea. It's called Your Ex-Lover is Dead. And it's by Stars, a wonderful Canadian band. I can't stop listening to it. Ever. And I'm still trying to figure the music video out. The guy at the beginning is random, yet wonderful.

Enjoy today. It'll be over before you know it.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

2.3

Wednesday.

Traditionally, no one likes Wednesdays. For some reason, everyone is always more tired on a Wednesday than on any other day of the week. So I picked a song to jump-start your day. I'm sure you already have it on your iTouch, so that shouldn't be a problem. It's a song that you know very well. It might be very close to you. Alright, I'll tell you. It's Travailler. By TTC,  remember? Good times. Also, this is a remix, I believe.

Have a good day. Good luck with your classes.

PS: it sucks you missed your other orientation, but they probably said the same thing anyways.

Monday, September 7, 2009

2.2

Tuesday!

You start school today? How your Labor Day? Now you can no longer wear white pants.

Oh noes. I never really understood what that was for, though? White pants? Makes no sense. Oh well.

Today's song is Running, by No Doubt. I love No Doubt. Still. After all these years. I'm so glad they're reuniting. Their tour was awesome. Best concert ever.

Sunday, September 6, 2009

2.1

Happy Monday!

Alex, I believe you start school tomorrow? If you've told me correctly. As are all the high schools in town.

Weird. I'm not going back. No more back to school shopping; no more learning; no more pretending to listen when really I'm just checking my phone; no more having crushes on cute high school boys; no more pretending I'm going to do something with my life; no more friends in the hallway.

Sigh. No more lots of things. And it's really depressing.

On that rather upbeat note, the song of the day is Womanizer. And I know you like it, so you can't pretend otherwise. I don't mind it, but it reminds me of Jill and Jeff singing along to it when Jill's dad was giving me a ride to youth one night. Good times. It says the video is censored, which basically means whenever she's naked, there's a smoke effect so you can't see it. :)

Enjoy.

Saturday, September 5, 2009

1.7

SUNDAY!

It's not a traditional Sunday song, but it's amazing, and slow, and awesome.

And kind of sad, if you really listen to it. But yesterday's song was a bit depressing too. I sense a weekend theme here...

ANYWAYS. Today's song is Bored of Your Love by Meg and Dia. They are twin sisters and they've been playing for a few years now, and I absolutely love them. This is one of my favorite songs from their new album. This one is a duet by Dia and Tom Higginson (Plain White T's). I really like it. Ignore the music video, it's dumb. But the song is LOVERLY.

Happy Sunday-ing. Sorry that the weekend is over after today, heh.

Love ya.

The Darjeeling Limited.

BEST. MOVIE. EVER.

Seriously. I cannot believe I haven't seen it yet. I've wanted to see it since my friend Michael told me how good it was, but I just saw it tonight, and I am in love!

Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson. And Natalie Portman, but she's not important.

Definitely in my top five. Top three, even.

1.6

Happy Saturday, Alex!

Good job on your swearing-in and top-secret duty thing. That's sweet.

You're probably completely exhausted and won't even wake up until sometime in the afternoon. If that's the case, good for you! Today's song is one I really really like.

I mean, how can you not like it?

And my friend Will, (a youtube musician), covered it a couple months ago, saying "Well, I guess if I don't cover it, I'm not a real youtube musician. Which is sorta true and sorta not because I love him anyways. It's kinda true because EVERYONE covers it. It is.... I'll Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie. I'll post the real one, and then a couple covers that I like. Hopefully you'll have time, given that it is Saturday. Buuut maybe you're working. Who knows? ENJOY.

The real one. I can't believe they haven't made a music video. It's probably their most popular song.

Jinah and Gerald. I love him. MY FAVORITE COVER BTW.

Kina Grannis. Only recently discovered her. Love her.

Have a good weekend :)

xx Marissa

Crooked Hearts.

As I walked out one evening,
Walking down Bristol Street,
The crowds upon the pavement
Were fields of harvest wheat.

And down by the brimming river
I heard a lover sing
Under an arch of the railway:
"Love has no ending.

"I'll love you, dear, I'll love you
Till China and Africa meet,
And the river jumps over the mountain
And the salmon sing in the street,

"I'll love till the ocean
Is folded and hung up to dry
And the seven stars go squawking
Like geese about the sky.

"The years shall run like rabbits,
For in my arms I hold
The Flower of the Ages,
And the first love of the world."

But all the clocks in the city
Began to whirr and chime:
"O let not Time deceive you,
You cannot conquer Time.

"In the burrows of the Nightmare
Where Justice naked is,
Time watches from the shadow
And coughs when you would kiss.

"In headaches and in worry
Vaguely life leaks away,
And Time will have his fancy
Tomorrow or today.

"Into many a green valley
Drifts the appalling snow;
Time breaks the threaded dances
And the diver's brilliant bow.

"O plunge your hands in water,
Plunge them in up to the wrist;
Stare, stare in the basin
And wonder what you've missed.

"The glacier knocks in the cupboard,
The desert sighs in the bed,
And the crack in the teacup opens
A lane to the land of the dead.

"Where the beggars raffle the banknotes
And the Giant is enchanting to Jack,
And the Lily-white Boy is a Roarer,
And Jill goes down on her back.

"O look, look in the mirror,
O look in your distress;
Life remains a blessing
Although you cannot bless.

"O stand, stand at the window
As the tears scald and start
You shall love your crooked neighbor
With all your crooked heart."

It was late, late in the evening,
The lovers they were gone;
The clocks had ceased their chiming,
And the deep river ran on.

TGIF, right?

Sorry this is late, my internet died.

Well, I have a very special song for you today. You might know it very well.

It requires no introduction, whatsoever. So I'm just going to jump right into it.

HAHA! I hope you have big plans for your weekend. If not, you'll probably have a jolly good time relaxing. I'm probably doing nothing. And let me know how your ward is out there. I mistakenly thought one my internet friends was a mormon. She was joking about marrying me and another girl named marissa, at the same time. And she was like: it's the mormon way.

So I got really excited, and I was all: Duuuuude, you're a mormon?

And then she was like: Haha no. Me no polygamist. (except she spelled it wrong)

And I was all, like: haha. but inside I was all: ANGER. NOT POLYGAMISTS! WHEN WILL PEOPLE GET OVER IT?!

Anyways. Have a nice Friday.
:)

1.4

Happy Thursday!

Today, I'll have a new video up. So you can watch that if you want.

How are things going? When you have some spare time, you should update me on all the goings-on there.

Today's song is by one of my favorite artists. And I know I've never told you about her, which is really dumb.

Her name is Laura Marling and she's this amazingly talented british singer. I'll eventually give you a whole list of the songs of hers I love (in short, pretty much all of them). Anywho, today's song is called Ghosts.

I chose this song today because the music video is crazy weird. I love it. And the song is awesome. I'm in love with it.

Alex, darling, enjoy your Thursday.

1.3

So today's song is one that I have been addicted to, as of late.

It's not something I usually listen to, but my friend Ashley told me she liked it, and I gave it a try.

It's crazily catchy. It's something you put on your iPod touch and listen to whenever you have spare time.

Speaking of which, if you don't have music downloading software, you can always download mp3 from youtube and steal music that way. Just a tip if you like these songs and can't find them anywhere else. Just go to www.vidtomp3.com. Seriously.

Anyways, the song of the day is Who's Got Your Money? by Tina Parol.

It's a sweet song. I love you! Have a good day, Alexandria Priscilla :)
(shut up, that is your name)
