1.2

Alex, I know you're missing us and all, but at least this hasn't happened:

Today, I left for college. I spent hundreds of dollars on clothes, bedding and other things. After packing my entire closet and everything else I needed, I left only to have to head back home. My dad forgot to pay the first semesters tuition. He said "Oh well, you would have failed out anyway." FML

I found it on fmylife.com

It always makes me feel better about things. I hope it's worked for you :)

ALSO! Yesterday when I was talking about needing a new name for this, I thought of one! PANSED! Phonetically, you would pronounce it "pantsed"   It stands for "Post A New Song Every Day". Like it?

Today's song is I Love Brains, by All Caps, because I remember you thought it was awesome. I think some of the lyrics are off, but still. You'll probably be too busy getting ready to watch the video :) But, after the video, is me typing to you, because I figure you care about my mundane life and want to know what us non-college types are doing. :)

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TEST TODAY! I know you're going to do great. If not, you'll have more time to listen to the songs from PANSED. Even though it's not much of an upside...

I get really excited when I see this: (1) comment to be moderated.

it makes me really happy, because I know it's always from you.

Once again, as soon as you send me your address, I'll send you your first letter. I was supposed to go job hunting yesterday but went to bed way too late, so I'll probably do that today. And also today, I'll get some real envelopes. And more stamps from my mom. I only have two.

I made cookies. Anyways...

Have a good day, love.

1.1

ALEX!
It's day one of our official project during which I'll be posting a new song every day for you to listen to!
We need to shorten that somehow.

Today's song is by a band we both know and love: The Beach Boys!
And the song is God Only Knows.

Because God only knows what I'd do without you. Actually, what I'd do without you is THIS! Post a new song for you every day.

Do you start school today? That would be cool. I know you have your PM quiz two days in. Which, I guess, is tomorrow?

Last night (Sunday), I had just finished dinner when my friend Paul called me up and said he was going to be in White Rock, and asked me if I wanted to hang out with them at the pier.

So we met somewhere on the hill (you know the one - the devil hill we walked down at my party) and went down to the pier. It was about 8 by the time we all met up, so we got there at about 8 15, and then hung out. Some idiots were jumping off the pier after it got dark, and I tried to get pictures but I just got them standing, and then the splash, and them coming back out.

Stupid camera. The flash didn't charge quickly enough for me to take pictures that quickly. And the first guy did a backflip off. Like I said, idiots. Then we went to a japanese restaurant because they wanted sushi and sushi is cheap. So we all sat there, and they ate sushi, and we had a few laughs. The best part, though, was walking back up the hill (only done it once before, with Shoshana. But we were on a different hill. The one on Martin Street is worse, somehow). Anyways, we were all walking up the hill, and boys walk faster than me, so I'm just lagging behind, going ''I almost failed gym class!'' Then I went on about how I should never have skipped gym class, because I did. A lot.

Anyways, there was one point where I thought I would die, and Paul was like: Come on Mars, if Logan can do it, you can.

Then Logan's just like: I can't do it. It was perfect.

And today (Technically being Monday though I haven't been to bed yet), I have to go job hunting. Grr.

ANYWAYS. Here's your first official song :)

Dear Self,

I’m going to be building this up over time to learn from myself. I also feel that everyone can learn from these. I'm here to help.

1. Stop singing. Then drink water.

2. Do not buy kites because they are sweet and on clearance. Not everyone knows how to assemble a forty-piece Star Wars kite. Also, a sweet kite does not always make for a kite that flies.

3. Next time there’s a spider, throw your binder at it instead of your laptop.

4. Don’t treat people the way you want to be treated. Treat them the way they deserve to be treated. You’re entitled to be a total douche to a person that’s also a total douche.

5.

Blah.

Hey, remember that month when I only ate boxes of tangerines?
So cheap and juicy. Tangerines.

Hey, remember that time when I would only read Shakespeare?
Hey, remember that other time when I would only read the backs of cereal boxes?

Leaving. For real.

Somehow, I got into my head that Saturday (yesterday) was the 30th.

So I'm pretty sure that this blog is just going to be a song for my friend Alex every day. And when our friend Shoshana starts her thing with Katimavik (October 7), they're going to be for her as well. Maybe I'll post regularly, or maybe I'll save that for my other blog, on tumblr.

I'm missing them both so much. I don't even get to see Shoshana before she leaves - She's going to be in Blue Lake until then. *cries*

Oh well. Alex, today's song is: First Day of My Life, by Bright Eyes. You can totally listen to it on Sunday. No swear words or hidden meanings (like Travailler). The video is really cute, and even though the song is about love and all, it's still a new start for you, so I think it works.

Also, if you have time, you should check out the cover by Julia Nunes. It's on youtube. I love her. I'll probably post one of her originals at some point. (Edit: Yes, I will be. In a couple weeks I'm going to have YOUTUBE week, where I'll post originals from people I found via youtube. I'm putting a lot of work into this for you.)

Enjoy your Sunday. The real songs begin tomorrow. This was just week .5 (aka unofficial week.)

Tomorrow Week 1 begins. And there are some really awesome songs. Maybe not as good as the ones I've planned for Week 2, but still.

Love you!

Departure.

ALEX! You're leaving tomorrow. I don't know what time you're leaving at, so I'm posting this at noon on Saturday, so it still counts... Good luck on your trip; I hope there are no delays or lost baggage experiences.

The first song is Wide Open Spaces, by the Dixie Chicks. (don't think because I'm posting it early you'll get out of a song tomorrow. There will be one.)

It's not the best song in the world, but it really fits :)

Have a good flight. I will miss you tons.

Never leave a man behind.

One of my best friends (and when I say best, I mean best. We got bracelets and everything with our other best friend, Shoshana) is leaving in TWO DAYS! for university. She's going to be three time zones away. Maybe two, I don't know. The point is, we'll be three hours time difference - and lots of miles - away.

So, in order to stay in touch, we'll be going on Skype, and talking on facebook, and blogging. We're going to keep each other updated that way, which should be good. And every day that she's gone I'm going to post a new song for her to listen to. When she wakes up in the morning, she'll have a new song waiting for her (provided she goes to bed on time and doesn't wait up for it). I'm hoping this will be a successful experiment.

We're also hoping that our friend Shoshana gets Skype, or starts blogging, so we can all stay in touch, while we're all away from each other. Though, Shoshana will be in Ontario with Alex at some point. Probably just miles away in Ontario.

Anways, Alex, Shoshana, if you're reading this,  I'll miss you a whole lot, and I'm going to try my hardest to post a song (and a note) every day to let you know you're missed. Also, Alex, I'll write you some letters because you like those.

And Shoshana, you better blog with us.
