So, the other day, I was walking to the video store in a new town. I mean, the town itself is not new, nor was it new to me. I had been there before for day trips down to the ocean. However, I have recently inhabited this town full of old, rich people, and people that are just plain old.
(Do not underestimate me when I tell you they're all old. The speed limit is thirty kilometers/hr - that's about 18 miles - and there are crosswalks about every ten yards. Not kidding.)
Anyways, we were walking to the video store to rent a movie (We rented Milk, if you're wondering), and on the way, I discovered something that greatly upset me... A fire hall.
The fire hall itself was not upsetting, rather what was IN the fire hall.
Here's the kicker... GREEN FIRE TRUCKS!
WHAT?
I mean, I love the color green. But this was a lime-green-yellow-ish kind of color and it was ON A FIRE TRUCK!
That is not right. So I did some research, and came to discover in 1971, a crazy person named Robert Collins suggested painting the trucks green. He was from Greenwood. And the crazy firefighters voted in his favor! Since then, communities around them have been painting their trucks green.
But Delaware is almost 3,000 miles away. It's on the other side of the continent! So I don't see why we, also, had to be crazy and paint our fire trucks green!
I mean, didn't Mr Robert Collins think it was unconstitutional?!
Us Canadians don't have a constitution. Well, it's not called that. It's called the Bill of Rights. Which, in my opinion, is also stupid. If we had rights, we'd have red fire trucks. Or at least a better shade of green.
Sigh. It's always Delaware's fault.
